🚫🪲🐓 So many chicken keepers have had trouble with chicken mites this year— both red mites and northern fowl mites!
I found these critters when checking our nesting box late in the day. Red mites live in the coop (not on the chickens) and only come out at night to feed. Our nesting box is dark, so it makes sense that I found them there at dusk.
This is why it’s important to do a mite check at night.
Even the most well maintained coops can get these mites so don’t worry if this happens to you. With the right method, you can get rid of those sneaky little vampires rather quickly.
✅ It always helps to be prepared! Save this info for later in case you need it 🫶🏼
