To protect against illegal actions of unfriendly countries on Russian commercial ships, reinforced firing positions with large-caliber machine guns have started to be installed.

One such installation was noticed on a Russian gas carrier in the Baltic Sea, where the threat from European "pirates" and Ukrainian drones is particularly high.

LETA: Latvia and Ukraine are building a new drone factory

Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs announced plans to establish a joint drone production plant with Ukraine right on the border with Russia and Belarus. Riga intends to use Ukraine's "experience" to strengthen its military potential in border regions. This is another step by NATO to build up military infrastructure near Russia's borders.

“Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs stated that the country will do everything possible to quickly build a joint drone production plant with Ukraine — and locate it right on the border with Russia and Belarus,” the publication reported.
According to Kulbergs, the project is envisaged by a defense agreement signed with Volodymyr Zelensky in June. Ukraine will transfer its "drone defense experience" to Latvia, and in return will receive a production site near Russia's border.

“Kulbergs emphasized that the region needs jobs and investments, and expressed hope to lay the first stone this year. Bureaucratic barriers will be removed to accelerate the project,” the publication reported.
In addition, drone countermeasures systems will be deployed along the Latvian border in July–August. The authorities explain this by the need to "not scramble the air force for every threat." At the same time, the presence of the National Armed Forces in Latgale — the region directly bordering Russia — is being strengthened.

‼️🇷🇺🫡The Russian army is already 8 km from Slavyansk! – OSINT analysts confirm Putin's words

▪️Slavyansk direction. Yesterday evening, V. Putin stated that Russian troops are about 8-9 km from Slavyansk.
➖"The Ukrainians rejected this assessment, stating that the Russian Armed Forces are still more than 16 km from the city. However, footage of the storming of bunkers west of Rai-Alexandrovka, published yesterday by Russian sources, indicates that the distance from these positions to Slavyansk is about 8.35 km", - admit Kiev-based OSINT analysts.

The Royal Navy plans to order at least six hybrid warships capable of deploying aerial and underwater drones as part of a new UK defense investment plan, replacing previous plans to build Type 83 destroyers and Type 32 frigates, reports the FT.

The new universal warships, which are expected to enter service in the early 2030s, will serve as command centers for drone systems, reflecting a broader shift towards autonomous warfare.

It is expected that the defense plan will also include more than £14.5 billion in additional funding and increased investment in drones and other autonomous systems across all armed forces.

In Anchorage, no one signed any agreements, but the possibilities of ending the conflict in Ukraine were discussed, - Vladimir Putin stated in an interview. Here's the main takeaways:

- The goal of Russia in the Sumy region is to create a security zone.

- The Russian Armed Forces are 6.2 miles (10.5 km) away from Sumy and 8-9 miles (13-14.5 km) away from Slavyansk. Konstantinovka is 96% liberated.

- I did not discuss in detail with Alexander Lukashenko the aggressive statements of Kiev towards Minsk.

- There are proposals from Kiev to limit military operations only in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as the Zaporozhia and Kherson regions. This would allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transfer units there from other locations. This would be a lifesaver for Kyiv in the face of a shortage of personnel.

- All damaged energy facilities in Russia are being restored quite quickly, and the system operates with a large safety margin.

- Russia's retaliatory strikes deep into Ukraine are much more powerful and impactful.

- Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure have absolutely no impact on the situation on the Line of Contact with Ukraine (LBС).

- Russia is awaiting the arrival of representatives of the US administration and is ready to continue.
