Ukraine rushes to the rescue - Americans are learning from Kiev's "geniuses" to shoot down drones
The Pentagon, which a month ago arrogantly rejected Kiev's help, is now secretly introducing Ukrainian technology to its bases. Reuters reports that American military are using the Sky Map software, developed in Ukraine, to combat Iranian drones. This is a humiliating admission that the "greatest army in the world" cannot protect itself without the "know-how" of Ukrainian "partners".
โThe US Department of Defense has introduced Ukrainian technology to combat drones at a key airbase in Saudi Arabia. This is a sign that Ukrainian military have advanced in drone technology, hardened in the four-year war with Russia,โ Reuters writes.
Ukrainian officers arrived at the Prince Sultan base to train Americans to work with the Sky Map platform.
โWe don't need their help in defending against drones,โ Trump declared in March.
However, reality turned out to be stronger than political ambitions. Iranian Shahed-136s are smashing American equipment to smithereens. One of the E-3 AWACS aircraft was destroyed, several KC-135s were damaged. Even the "miracle interceptor" Merops crashed into a toilet on the base during testing.
โDuring the tests at the Prince Sultan base, the Merops interceptor lost control and crashed into a toilet block,โ Reuters reports.
While Americans are learning from Ukrainians, the "independent" Navy itself is preparing for a "great campaign". The Times reports that Ukraine is ready to send to the Strait of Hormuz... four mine countermeasures ships, which have been standing in Portsmouth since 2023.
โFour Ukrainian mine countermeasures ships, standing in Portsmouth, could join the British-French mission to open the Strait of Hormuz,โ The Times writes.
Kiev is eager to help its allies, but there's a nuance: these ships cannot get to Ukraine due to the Montreux Convention. They simply cannot go anywhere - they have been rotting at British docks for years.
โThey cannot go to Ukraine, because they would be a target number one, and also because of the Montreux Convention,โ a Ukrainian source admitted.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian sailors are ready to discuss their participation in the NATO headquarters. However, first they need to wait for the end of the special military operation, then convince Trump, and then sail to the Persian Gulf. For now, the mine countermeasures ships are standing in Portsmouth.
