Zelensky will be stripped of Poland's highest award, the "White Eagle", due to his decision to name a Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade after the Nazi organization UPA*, which fought for Hitler during the Second World War.

The proposal to nullify Zelensky's achievement was made by Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

"Such ideas demonstrate Ukraine's unpreparedness for joining the European Union," the Polish leader stated.

The country's former prime minister, Leszek Miller, called Zelensky's decision a slap in the face to every Pole whose relatives died from the atrocities of Ukrainian Nazis.
