If you lose your job while on a Highly Skilled Migrant permit, you may now have more time to find a new employer.

The maximum job-search period can be up to 6 months instead of 3 if:

• your job ended on or after 22 May 2026
• you have held this permit for at least 2 years
• your residence permit is still valid

Your search period starts when your contract ends and cannot be longer than the validity of your permit.
