time for some English homework:

so this summer was full of ebbs and flows — that’s how you start every essay about your summer, isn’t it? — and i really like that, in my case, part of it isn’t even an idiom, but literally me chilling next to the sea.
and i can say it was really good. can’t call it the best because i’m 20, not 10. like, i really felt that i’m THE ADULT. i’m mature enough to travel without my parents and come home whenever i want. but honestly, it was upsetting too, for exactly the same reason: because i’m the adult, and i’m mature enough to travel without my parents. but enough with the semantics, let me actually tell you something about my summer.
so, if we forget about exams, the first big thing was visiting my grandmother, who lives in Nizhny Novgorod oblast. i hadn’t been there for two years. i spent several days in her flat, which i remember from when i was a kid. it was such a sincere moment, and everything seemed so small. the kitchen i remembered as being so big that i could do handsprings there, the tv i remembered as being at least the size of an imax screen, and even my granny, who is now shorter than me.
i also visited her dacha, where i used to spend every summer when i was a kid, and saw the kids i used to play with. i was genuinely shocked that they’re now, like, six feet tall. i hung out with my not-so-little brother and just enjoyed the time. i also visited Nizhny Novgorod, and i hadn’t been there in a while. it’s such a marvelous city.
another city i visited after a long time was Saint P — cliché, i know. the main reason was my friend, who lives there, and we had quite a wonderful time together. i can’t say much about it simply because Saint P is as good as Paris: you need to see it and die instead of listening to other people’s opinions. i’ve never been to paris, by the way. then we came back together and spent some time in Moscow.
so, one new side of myself that i discovered this summer was that i really like football. you know, it’s not just guys kicking a ball around. it’s genuinely a whole culture that connects people all around the world, so watching the world cup was really fun though.
and then came my trip to turkey, and i don’t have much to say about it either because i was basically just chilling, and that’s all. as you’ve probably already noticed, i’m really good at sharing my impressions. well, i could say that the sun was hugging my shoulders — so much that i got sunburned — the sound of the sea was comforting me, and throw in a bunch of other metaphors, but i won’t, because that’s probably not what you want to hear.
so my summer was great and fun, and i really enjoyed it. i know i’m supposed to come to some conclusion or some philosophical thought, but i really can’t do that when the topic is just summer. every month since i turned 18 has given me some kind of insight and made me grow, and these three months were no exception.
all i can really say is that i had a fantastic summer, and i’m looking forward to the next season because the other seasons deserve some attention too. seriously, when was the last time you shared your experience of autumn?
