Cimmerians - one of the most ancient peoples of Ukraine, who inhabited the territory of the Northern Black Sea Region and both banks of the Kerch Strait in the 10th-7th centuries BC. They were mentioned as skilled warriors who went on campaigns to Asia Minor (Lydia, Cappadocia, Assyria) as early as the 8th century BC in Assyrian, Babylonian, Urartian and Greek written sources
