HACK BASICS (theory + practice):
Server administration & configuration management

We will learn how to administer web servers for small-scale & personal projects. Hosting services (like Gitea for your Git repos) for personal use is cheap and pretty easy.

• Where to find a virtual server with large amount of storage (a few TBs)
• Debian & SSH basics
• DNS & domain names
• Infrastructure as code with Ansible
• Free TLS certificates with Let's Encrypt
• Backups with rsync
• Server security (firewall, SSH, Fail2Ban, port knocking)
• Nginx basics
• HTTP security (CSP and other measures)

Please bring a laptop with an SSH client to try it yourself.
