Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich inaugurated a new roof at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron’s Old City, announcing the project’s completion after months of renovation work, the cancellation of the Hebron agreements, and the transfer of authority away from the city’s municipality. Smotrich claimed that the site represents “the first sovereign property acquired by the people of Israel,” adding: “Hebron is ours and will remain ours forever, and the Ibrahimi Mosque is a symbol of Jewish sovereignty and identity in our land.”
