❗️To be prepared for Words in Context questions on test day, you need to have a great vocabulary📚

The SAT often includes vocabulary words that many students are not familiar with. Unfortunately, this means that you need to memorize LOTS of vocabulary words to be ready for top Reading & Writing scores on test day.

— Below, we have included a comprehensive list of SAT vocabulary words that can appear on test day. All of these words (and even words beyond this list) are fair game to appear on test day. We have split the vocabulary words into 3 levels: level 1 (medium), level 2 (difficult), and level 3 (expert).

Level 1 Vocabulary Words 🔥

The list below includes medium difficulty vocabulary words. These are words that can commonly appear in words in context questions and in reading comprehensions passages and are a good place to start expanding your SAT vocabulary.

The list below includes hard difficulty vocabulary words. These are words most commonly appear in advanced words in context questions and are important to know if you are trying to score above 700 on SAT Reading and Writing Test.

Graphing: Types any equation, inequality, or expression. Single-variable equations (e.g., x=5) graph as vertical lines.
Sliders: Create by typing a=1. Use to visually solve for constants. Avoid using 0 or 1 as test values.
Functions: Type f(x)=... to define. Then use f(2) to evaluate or f(x+2) for transformations.
Tables & Points: Click "+" and "Table" to input points. Use "Zoom Fit" to see all points.
Regression: The most powerful feature. Use the ~ symbol (tilde).
For regression, replace the variable with a constant (e.g., x becomes x1). Change = to ~.
Finding Constants: If solving for a letter like a or b, you must tell Desmos it's constant for all x. Set the variable to a list of numbers.
Systems of Equations: Use brackets. Put all left sides in one list and all right sides in another, separated by ~. Example: [2x1+3y1, x1-y1] ~ [12, 4].
Table Regression (anytime the question gives you points): 1) Input points into a table, 2) Type the equation that goes through the points, and 3) Change it to regression format.
Number of Solutions: Graph the left and right sides of the equation as separate lines. The number of intersections is the number of solutions.
Circle Questions: Graph the circle equation. Use the "distance" and "midpoint" functions between the max and min points to find the radius and center.
Equivalent Expressions: Type y= before each answer choice. The one that graphs identically to the original expression is correct.
To check if expressions are factors of each other, see if they have the same x-intercept.

And don’t just know how to answer the exact question you missed but understand how to answer questions that test the same concept.
