OpenAI just announced the official release of Whisper, an automatic speech recognition system trained on 680,000 ❗️hours of multilingual and multitask supervised data.

What does it mean technically?

Imagine: You're in a meeting with partners from Scotland, Japan, Portugal, India… And though everybody speaks English, you struggle to understand the accents.

But with Whisper everyone hears the other one speaking in their native language fluently and with precise transcriptions. That's a wow!
