🇩🇪🇪🇺Airbus Defence said the Airbus U740 Valkyrie has completed its first flight in Europe, presenting it as an uncrewed combat aircraft for the German armed forces and other European militaries. The test included a rocket-assisted takeoff, maneuvers at different altitudes and speeds of up to Mach 0.8, and in-flight mission adjustments.

The company said the aircraft, based on a Kratos airframe, carries its MARS mission system, which it describes as the platform’s “European brain.” It also said the design supports rail launch and conventional runway operations, and that the Valkyrie is meant to extend the range, firepower and survivability of crewed aircraft such as the Eurofighter.
