A container ship involved in violations was attempting to take an illegal and dangerous route through the Strait of Hormuz when it struck a naval mine, resulting in a massive explosion and fire.
The ship, carrying over 2,500 containers, sank this morning in the southern waters of the Strait of Hormuz due to the intensity of the fire.
