Amid continuing restrictions on clothing in Azerbaijani schools, a video has been published showing a hijab-wearing student who, despite achieving the highest academic scores, was prevented from entering her school.

She speaks to school officials from behind the school gate and asks: “Have I ever caused any problems for the school? Have I damaged the school’s standing? I achieved the highest scores in the country, so why are you not allowing me to enter? You are telling me to remove my hijab and then come inside. Do I deserve to be treated this way?”

The scene clearly shows that Azerbaijan’s new school dress regulations are preventing even successful students with no disciplinary record from attending classes solely because they wear hijab.
