🇮🇷 | IRGC Navy: Second supertanker strikes a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz:
Public Relations Office of the IRGC Navy:
A rogue supertanker struck a naval mine this afternoon in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, causing an explosion and a fire in the engine room.
The vessel, carrying crude oil and attempting to exit the Strait of Hormuz, had switched off all its navigation systems and violated the rules governing passage through the strait. According to the statement, the incident occurred because the vessel was using an unauthorized route.
This is the third non-compliant oil tanker to have struck naval mines and caught fire while using an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz since yesterday.
The IRGC Navy stated that all vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz that switch off their navigation and identification systems will be classified as hostile, and that decisive and forceful action will be taken against them.
