— Never Celebrate What America Celebrates!
Muslims in Kashmir and across India should not assume that their situation will automatically improve once the Modi government leaves power. This is not just about Modi or his predecessors. The politics pursued by different political parties in India over the past several decades must also be examined, particularly their impact on the social, political, and economic position of Muslims. History and available data raise serious concerns about the marginalisation, exclusion, and weakening of Muslim communities. A change of government alone does not guarantee that these structural problems will disappear. Modi has also established a political precedent that could become a powerful 5G tool for any party that replaces him, allowing similar methods to be adopted, refined, and used against the Muslim communities that expect a change in their circumstances.
To all Muslim youth in Kashmir and across India, consider the advice attributed to Imam Ali (A): “During civil disturbance be like an adolescent camel who has neither a back strong enough for riding nor udders for milking.”
The lesson is not necessarily to remain silent or withdraw from every political struggle. Rather, it is to exercise independent judgment, understand the interests behind political movements, and refuse to become a tool in someone else’s game. Participate where participation is necessary, remain seated where restraint is wiser, and avoid involvement where your presence serves interests contrary to your own.
Never assume that the fall of a government or the destabilisation of a country will automatically benefit its people. History repeatedly shows that political vacuums and instability can create opportunities for Americans, to advance their strategic interests.
At the same time, opposing foreign interference must not mean accepting injustice at home. The oppressive aspects of Modi’s rule must come to an end, and the rights, dignity, and security of entire Nation must be protected.
Some may feel that it does not matter how or from where Modi’s rule comes to an end, provided that it ends. But political history demands a more careful approach.
