— Normal pneumonic plague, which is caused by the bacteria Yersinia Pestis, can be brought under control fairly easily because it’s very lethal (no time to spread), not very contagious, and we have antibiotics against it.
There was a pneumonic plague outbreak in Madagascar 2017, which was brought under control with only 2-3k deaths due to antibiotics.
But if the strain is resistant to antibiotics or has been engineered to be more contagious, it could become another global pandemic & extremely deadly (99%> adult mortality rate).
