🇮🇷 | Pezeshkian’s mistake continues: Insisting on negotiations without mentioning Iran’s conditions:

Although parts of Pezeshkian’s speech defending the rights of the Iranian nation, including his reference to the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the children of Minab, and our dear people, exposing the West’s double standards on the nuclear issue, and emphasizing the policy of “regional security for everyone or for no one,” were beyond everyone’s expectations of Pezeshkian’s error-prone political character and his consistently confused public image, and included correct and credible points, we should not fall into analytical error because of media excitement. These points are the most basic and minimum duties of a senior Iranian official speaking from an international platform.

The more important issue, and the President’s continuing strategic mistake, shared by other government officials, is his continued insistence on sending the signal of “negotiations without presenting Iran’s conditions or the framework for constructive and equal negotiations.” This comes at a time when the other side is not only unprepared for genuine dialogue and unwilling to honor any commitment, but just yesterday, from the same platform of the United Nations, officially labeled Iran a “terrorist” state, spoke of its determination to destroy the Islamic Republic, and mockingly claimed that Iran was “begging for a deal.”

In such an atmosphere, declaring readiness for negotiations, peace, and dialogue is not equal diplomacy, but a strategic mistake. The expectation was that, instead of playing within the “negotiation-or-surrender” paradigm dictated by Washington, the President would firmly declare: “We will not negotiate with the terrorist government of America while it continues this bullying,” and “The fundamental rights of the Iranian nation are not subject to diplomatic bargaining.” Saying these words, even verbally, is not difficult.

Our serious criticism is not only of Pezeshkian’s unplanned visit to New York while America has attacked Iran and the United Nations has played no role in defending the rights of nations, or of accepting the rules of the Western-oriented political current. When the enemy has openly drawn its sword for the overthrow and surrender of Iran, speaking about the martyrdom of leaders or the victims of terrorism is not an achievement. It is simply the minimum standard of political honor expected from the President.

The main question still remains: How long will we continue playing on the opponent’s field? What is the current government’s plan for getting out of the present situation? What concrete strategy does it have? Nothing. The same failed JCPOA model is being reproduced in a different form.
