Bitcoin could collapse within the next 7–11 years — this opinion was shared by Cyber Capital founder Justin Bons.
According to him, Bitcoin’s long-term security model is unsustainable. Each halving reduces miners’ revenue, which gradually weakens the network’s real security.
Bons argues that to remain secure, Bitcoin would need to either double in price every four years or compensate declining block rewards with very high transaction fees. He considers both scenarios unrealistic.
The main risk, in his view, is the falling cost of attacking the network. After several more halving cycles, a 51% attack could become economically viable for large players.
Another issue is Bitcoin’s low throughput. In a panic scenario, a surge of transactions could create massive backlogs lasting weeks, triggering a “death spiral”: falling prices, miners shutting down, and loss of trust in the network.
