🚨 TODAY: Fairfax County’s sanctuary policies face national scrutiny on Capitol Hill as Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano and Sheriff Stacey Kincaid testify before Congress.

The hearing comes after multiple high-profile cases involving illegal immigrants accused of violent crimes in Fairfax County - including the murder of Stephanie Minter and the sexual assaults committed by Israel Ortiz inside a Fairfax County high school.

Ortiz, an illegal immigrant who was placed in a Fairfax County school despite being an adult male, was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple young girls after walking the halls alongside 13- and 14-year-old students.

That case sparked outrage among parents like Stacy Langton, who has become one of the leading voices demanding accountability from county leaders.

This is the same Fairfax County system that allowed Ortiz into schools also failed to stop Abdul Jalloh - a man arrested more than 30 times, repeatedly flagged by police as dangerous, and ultimately charged with murdering 41-year-old Stephanie Minter at a Fairfax County bus stop.

According to records, police warned prosecutors not to release Jalloh, writing that it was “not a question of if, but rather when” he would seriously hurt or kill someone. Prosecutors allegedly dropped multiple charges anyway. Stephanie Minter was murdered weeks later.

Now Congress is demanding answers.

The Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, titled “Fairfax County, Virginia: The Dangerous Consequences of Sanctuary Policies,” will examine Fairfax County’s immigration policies, prosecution decisions, and cooperation with ICE amid growing criticism that public safety has been sacrificed for ideology.
