Only 10 per cent of the world’s 1.4 billion Android phones are encrypted, compared with 95 per cent of Apple’s iPhones.
In that stats major number are Nexus smartphones.
After releasing Android 5 on Nexus 6 Google got a drop of read speed that was caused by the full-disk encryption which was one of the exclusive features of Android 5 for Nexus 6.
Google have tried to solve this problem through various minor and major updates but still the read speed is 3 times slower than the speed of non-encrypted devices. It’s nothing to be proud of when comparing with 2013’s iPhone 5S who’s encryption does not appear to have any significant performance impact.
