The Quiet Power of Kamchatka is a space that gathers from many details.
In this image, which will be presented at the Russia House exhibition, each element is connected to the atmosphere of Kamchatka — its nature, materials, states, and sensations. Here, furniture, ceramics, textiles, vegetation, scents, light, and other details become part of one itinerary and help convey the feeling of the peninsula.
My work, Artichoke “Spiral of Silence”, is inspired by Kamchatka, the edge where silence sounds louder than words. The artichoke shape here becomes a metaphor for the volcanic power hidden in the layers: just as the solidified lava holds the memory of movement, so every scale in this work is hand-sculpted to convey the rhythm of the natural layers. The matte texture of the pottery resembles cooled slopes, and the soft transitions of shades are mists over the hills. It's not the cry of the elements, but its calm, mature power. The work is designed to be wanted to be viewed in silence, noticing how light lies on the layers and reveals the depth of form.
