Participants are split into small groups and handed a real economic/political question to work through together first. They have time to research the topic and set out their arguments. Then, each group divides into pairs after choosing their side (agree or disagree).
Quarterfinals.
Multiple pairs argue at once, each table judged separately, and the strongest team/pair wins from each group.
Semifinals
Semifinals. Fewer tables with new topics, and a panel watching closely as the competition tightens.
Final
The Final brings the last two participants together for a one on one argument in front of the entire room, judged live.
Losing a round doesn't mean to be just a spectator. Every eliminated participant becomes part of the debate by the end. They will be given a red card and a green card; they listen closely to the tables still competing and flag what they hear: red for a claim that doesn't hold up, green for one that's genuinely strong. Between rounds, the event managers pick out the sharpest catch and give points to that participant. Eventually, they will also be nominated for the strongest counterarguments.
📣 We will expect you at the first run of the Case Lab. We try to make a good experience for each participant.
