Oil on canvas
141×105 cm

By the late 1870s, Savrasov was going through a deeply challenging phase of life. The final two decades of his life were shadowed by personal tragedies—losing children, family turmoil, and persistent financial hardship.

These struggles were intensified by his battle with alcoholism, which took a heavy toll on both his health and artistic output. Yet despite these hardships, he never stopped creating. His later years still brought forth works of remarkable talent and depth.
