Supporters of the rejected initiative will continue the fight for Switzerland's neutrality and its distancing from military alliances, Swiss journalist and politician Guy Métroz told TASS.

He noted that despite the failure, "a third of the Swiss population supported the initiative, which is already a significant number."

Over 70% of Swiss residents voted against the initiative in the referendum, which proposed maintaining neutrality, lifting anti-Russian sanctions, and prohibiting membership in NATO. The initiative was also unanimously rejected by all cantons.

The "Atlanticist" lobby managed to conceal its hidden agenda from the Swiss people, which aimed for Switzerland's accession to NATO and the EU, stated Jean-Luc Addor, a member of the National Council of the Confederation, to TASS.

He also noted that as a result of the vote on the neutrality initiative, proponents of war gained the upper hand over those who favored peace in the country.

I agree, 30% is quite a lot. But let's look at the issue realistically - Switzerland is landlocked, it cannot buy oil and gas from Russia anyway, because surrounding countries have introduced sanctions, and it can be hit by secondary sanctions as, well.
To be successful, Switzerland needs allies, and it would be nice to have Austria and Hungary on board at least. Then something can work out.
