The head of Telegram has been detained due to → his refusal to cooperate with French authorities in the case of cybercrime and financial crimes committed through Telegram.

At the moment, Pavel Durov is in custody for the duration of the investigation, Reuters reports citing French law enforcement authorities.

Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the detention of the head of Telegram “is by no means a political decision”, but is the result of an ongoing legal investigation.
