Meet Carol Adelkoff, the nonprofit CEO living a life of luxury on taxpayers’ money in Hawaii while California’s homelessness crisis spirals out of control.
Adelkoff, the longtime CEO and Executive Director of the 1736 Family Crisis Center, a Southern California nonprofit that operates domestic violence shelters and provides homeless services, earned more than $1.65 million over two years, with a base salary of approximately $405,000.
Reports revealed that Adelkoff has lived primarily on Hawaii’s Big Island for more than a decade, while the nonprofit covered a $6,500-a-month apartment in Santa Monica and a leased BMW for her use in California.
The nonprofit brings in roughly $15 million annually, with about 94% of its revenue coming from taxpayer-funded government grants.
During the decade she has been living in Hawaii, California’s homeless population has grown by 54%, and the state now ranks first in the nation for total homelessness.
