The malicious spy implant was so precisely engineered that it could clip directly onto the Ledger’s motherboard and intercept the video signal going to the screen.

From there, the implant could monitor everything displayed, use optical character recognition (OCR) to capture each word of the user’s seed phrase, and store them until the entire phrase had been collected.

It would then automatically “phone home,” transmitting the stolen seed phrase to the attacker’s server.
