The shift to "affirmative consent" was pitched as a prevention strategy. But the activists at victim-advocacy nonprofits had other goals.
They sought to expand the definition of rape to classify more women as victims, including those who didn't consider themselves victims.
In 2014, Laura Dunn, founder of SurvJustice, urged the Obama administration to institutionalize affirmative consent because "survivors frequently fail to identify rape and sexual assault."
The Obama administration embraced this idea, and went on to promote campus surveys that used broad behavioral criteria to classify more women as sexual assault victims, including those who "don’t call what happened to them rape."
By 2015, affirmative consent had gone mainstream, establishing a new standard that sexual health organizations would expand even further.
This is literally just redefining sex as rape.
