The Christa Pike case has apparently sparked a whole new interest in death row pen pals.
Pike, who was convicted of murdering 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in 1995, recently survived a botched lethal injection in Tennessee.
Now UK charity LifeLines says it's seeing a sharp rise in people wanting to write to death row inmates in the U.S.
The charity has actually been doing this since 1988, connecting prisoners with people willing to exchange letters, sometimes for years.
Its chair, Patrick Ballin, says he genuinely cares about the inmates he writes to.
Imagine writing to someone for years, knowing that one day, you might stop getting letters back..
