According to court documents, the husband was "freaked out" after she began lighting candles and sleeping with a knife on her dresser.

Flores, the mother, allegedly locked the husband out of the bedroom, but he woke up when he heard the children crying.

He knocked on the door at Flores st*bbed him IN THE HEAD with the knife.

The husband said he grabbed the knife and called 911.

Somehow Flores managed to get a knife again while he was calling for help and he had to wrestle it away from her again.

Police wrote in the affidavit that the husband had bite marks on his arm where Flores had apparently bitten him trying to get the knife back.

Furthermore, in court documents, the husband said he’d been worried about recent changes in her behavior so he’d started sleeping on the couch to be closer to the children.

The husband said Flores had carried a candle into the children’s bedroom a few hours before the st*bbing and he woke up around 1 or 2 a.m. and heard his wife trying to use a lighter.

When he went to check on her and the children, he saw Flores lighting the candle and noticed a kitchen knife on the dresser, he said.

The husband said the knife “freaked him out,” the affidavit states, and he asked Flores what she was doing which was when she locked him out of the room.

Officers found a 3-year-old girl and 11-month-old boy screaming in the back bedroom.

They had injuries to their chest area and the little girl had also been st*bbed in the stomach.
