The employment downturn in the US Information sector is intensifying:
Information employment fell another -10,000 jobs in September, to 2.739 million, the lowest since December 2020.
Excluding the 2020 pandemic drop, this is the lowest level since December 2014.
In total, the Information industry has shed -376,000 jobs, or -12.1%, since the November 2022 peak.
To put this into perspective, during the 2001 recession and its aftermath, Information employment fell -568,000 jobs, or -15.3%, from March 2001 to December 2003.
The Information sector is losing jobs at a crisis pace.
