Something STRANGE has happened with Brazil’s ELECTION COUNT...
The official TSE tally appears to have been frozen around 65% for roughly an hour, with Bolsonaro on 49.58% and Lula on 42.25%.
And this doesn’t appear to be a browser problem.
Independent sites pulling TSE data are stuck on essentially the same batch, while Reuters is also reporting the count at 65% with exactly the same percentages.
There is no indication at this stage that anything improper has happened. Brazil’s results are transmitted from individual voting machines and then processed into the national tally, so a technical or transmission delay could explain it.
But right in the middle of an extraordinarily consequential presidential count, the numbers have simply stopped moving.
So far, TSE has not publicly explained why.
