Non-EU citizens aged 20–64 were employed at 65% across the EU in 2025, against 77% for nationals.
The gap is wider where the inflows were largest, like in Belgium, France, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
Other EU citizens work at the same rate as natives.
The shortfall is really with non-EU migration, and the taxpayer is covering the difference.
