A few years ago, I managed a small design studio. While visiting the websites of large studios and marketing agencies, I noticed that some sites were not functioning.

I thought that if a site wasn’t working, perhaps the owner had abandoned the business. This sparked the idea to invest in domains.

I began tracking the domains of inactive websites and registering them when they became available.

To do this, I use a Telegram bot called YourDomainBot, which notifies me about domain expiration dates and their availability for registration.

This helps me manage a list of approximately 500 domains.

This is how I created my first domain investment portfolio.

In the first step, I attempt to sell domains on afternic.com. Free domain listing. The domain will be available for purchase on GoDaddy and its partners.

Understanding the domain life cycle is crucial.

After registration, it enters an active phase.

When forgotten to renew, it expires, leading to changes in email and website functionality. Within 30 days, renewal is possible.

If not renewed, it enters auctions, giving the owner a chance to reclaim it. Otherwise, it's available for purchase.

Domains not auctioned enter Redemption Grace, where renewal is still possible but at a higher fee.

After this, Pending Delete follows, lasting about five days before the domain is available for new registration.
