Aqueduct, the Story of Water • Directed by Hadi Afarideh • 2021 • Iran

This short documentary focuses on the aqueducts that were developed and later improved by Iranians in the arid regions of Persia. The film shows the importance of using aqueducts to carry fresh water over several kilometers, allowing farmers to survive long-lasting droughts. The film is filled with images of tranquil nature such as beautiful and peaceful meadows and flowing rivers. Although live aqueducts in Iran were registered as cultural heritage sites by UNESCO, sadly one thousand aqueducts go dry every year.
