Amnesia • Directed by Shahin Parhami • 2002 • Canada

This short, heart-wrenching documentary centers on the life of a veteran named Shahram Golchin. The film includes Golchin’s fragmented monologues, which accentuate his miserable life, one devoid of any hope or happiness. Amnesia is a poetic film imbued with longing for the good moments in life and the pain of being forgotten. Golchin’s grace and presence in the film help to establish this as a compelling and worthwhile piece of art.
