Moving Up centers on a garbage collector, Shahriyar, who lives in the city of Kermanshah. As a man who loves books and writing novels, he tries to escape his dull existence by writing imaginative stories. However, due to the demands of his mundane life, he fails to achieve his goal.

Khaledi’s film captures the struggles of this misunderstood man, surrounded by family members and colleagues who insist he must give up his dream and accept actuality. This film brings into conflict Shahriyar’s passion for writing and his difficult work life, highlighting the gulf between reality and fantasy.
