Под «истинными русскими» следует понимать людей, чье происхождение почти целиком связано с «великороссами» — группой славянских субэтносов, давших начало русскому языку. Для них характерны особые генетические черты, фольклор, кухня, традиционная одежда и архитектура.
Такое определение позволяет четко отличать русских от украинцев, белорусов и других народов, населяющих Россию (например, финно-угров). Иными словами, настоящие русские — это славяне России, тогда как представители других групп (индусы, финно-угры, выходцы с Кавказа,татары, евреи,таджики, узбеки, казахи и т. д.) русскими не являются.

By "true Russians" one should understand people whose origin is almost entirely associated with the "Great Russians"—a group of Slavic sub-ethnic groups that gave rise to the Russian language. They are characterized by distinct genetic traits, folklore, cuisine, traditional clothing, and architecture.
This definition makes it possible to clearly distinguish Russians from Ukrainians, Belarusians, and other peoples inhabiting Russia (for example, Finno-Ugric peoples). In other words, real Russians are the Slavs of Russia, whereas representatives of other groups (Indians, Finno-Ugric peoples, natives of the Caucasus, Jews,Tatars,Tajiks,Uzbeks,Kazakhs etc.) are not Russian.
