It was all standing ovations for #DomenicoDolce and #StefanoGabbana this evening in Sardinia after the stunning presentation of Alta Sartoria collection for the house, as the unique culture of the island’s folklore have inspired the design duo to create a new love song to the culture using fashion—this was a show in class by itself!

Gold filigree, feathers and folkloric weaving techniques were all intertwined to craft @DolceGabbana’s latest Alta Moda collection. Shown at the ancient Sardinian site of Nora, first settled by the Phoenicians during the 8th Century BC, the collection homaged Tanit—that civilisation’s goddess of fertility and procreation. The models walked around a monumental mirrored sculpture of skewed columns entitled Nora Mirage that was specially created by the American artist Phillip K. Smith III.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana conceived Alta Moda as an experimental and proudly Italian alternative to Haute Couture 12 years ago: Each summer they travel to a different, exceptional Italian locale to showcase their latest collections to a community of clients that travel from all over the world to witness them. “We create for the love of it,” the designers said before tonight’s latest epic Alta Moda moment.
