THE CHILD WE CARRY β
IS WHAT WE KEEP,
& WHAT WE OUTGROW FROM
There was a time when growing up sounded like a promise. We thought twenty years would be enough to become someone certain, someone accomplished, someone our younger selves would look at with wonder. And yet, here we are, still carrying the same small hungers. β To be curious. To be held. To make something for no reason. To laugh without checking the time. To find an afternoon worth remembering simply because it was ours.
Perhaps growing up was never meant to be an eviction. Perhaps the younger self does not disappear; they simply move to a quieter room within us, waiting for the door to be opened again. The table is still there. We only have to remember our way back.
