Welcome to God's earth. Gasp for your first beautiful breath, and now we're going to give you your first sexually transmitted disease vaccine before you're a day old.

That's the hepatitis B vaccine, and I consider it one of the stupidest vaccines we give. Hepatitis B is sexually transmitted. A newborn isn't going to encounter it unless the mother was hepatitis B positive at birth, which does happen, through shared needles, through certain blood transfusions, through other rare circumstances. But here's what makes the whole thing absurd. We already blood test every mother in America before delivery. It isn't a mystery who's positive and who isn't. We don't need to inject every single newborn in the country just to protect the rare baby actually at risk. That's where this insanity begins, a vaccine given on day one of life that almost no child will ever need if they go on to live a wholesome life.
