Video has emerged showing a ship with a thick plume of smoke emanating from its superstructure, purportedly "discovered" in the eastern waters of the Strait of Hormuz by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Navy (IRGC-N) forces while monitoring the area, according to a statement published on various IRGC linked social media channels. The statement goes on to say that the "unauthorized" tanker had "disabled its tracking systems and was attempting to cross the restricted area within the Sea of Oman", though it does not indicate how the vessel caught fire.
