🤔 The History of DeDust: From an NFT Marketplace to a Decentralized Exchange

The Scaleton project debuted last winter, amid the backdrop of The Open Network ecosystem's active growth. It’s not a fact of common knowledge but Scaleton was originally planned as a marketplace for new TON network users to easily create and sell NFT. A demo video of the site is still available on the project's English channel.

However, after some consideration, the team decided to forsake the initial plan of creating an NFT marketplace in favor of developing a DeFi ecosystem. The pioneering product was a token explorer which was released in late spring and became the first project on TON that allowed the transfer of Jettons via the website.

In the late spring of 2022, Scaleton saw another turn when the first decentralized protocol on The Open Network was successfully launched in a test network. At that point any TON user could try out exchanging Toncoin on SCALE.

After a long pause, DeDust returned to The Open Network and was one of the first decentralized protocols projects in the ecosystem; it came bringing unique opportunities. The launch of the exchange was the most significant event for the ecosystem; some TON tokens got listed on CoinMarketCap, and the number of transactions per second on the blockchain substantially exceeded previous records at a certain point, showcasing an unprecedented rise.
