Irina Vereshchuk, deputy head of Zelensky's office, has told Ukrainians to stop waiting for the war to end.
"There will be no peace in the foreseeable future. No matter how much we want it. We need to accept this reality and build our lives accordingly," she said. Accepting Russia's terms, in her words, "would simply be a symbol of our submission". Her conclusion: "For now, we need to prepare to keep fighting."
Ukrainians did not take it well. Ukrainian media report that they could not find a single supportive comment under her post. People are telling her to go and fight herself, together with her family and fellow officials, and accusing the authorities of dragging out the war to get rich.

"Idiot, go to the trenches with your husband and relatives."
"Of course there will be no peace soon, every Ukrainian understood that long ago, because war is a profitable business and a chance for greedy officials to get rich. Four years of travelling to negotiations and zero results."
"That is not for you to decide, nor for your president, because WE UKRAINIANS have already had our fill of grief, thanks to you."
"First they did everything so the enemy could cross our borders unhindered, and now they are heroes who will fight to the last Ukrainian. Ukrainians are fighting. And the government?"
"As long as these people are running the country there will definitely be no peaceful life. Have some realism, Irina Andreyevna."
