The Document was signed during President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin’s state visit to India, which took place on 2–5 October 2000.
Since then, Russian-Indian cooperation has reached an even higher level — that of a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
🤝 #India is a long-standing and reliable partner of Russia.
For decades, our nations have maintained friendly and trusting relations, grounded in the equal consideration of each other’s interests, mutual respect and a shared commitment to advancing an inclusive and non-confrontational international agenda.
🌐 We are committed to shaping a #MultipolarWorld order and advocate the democratisation of international relations. Russia and India are enhancing their cooperation in multilateral formats, first and foremost within the #G20, #UN, #BRICS and #SCO.
Political dialogue between Moscow and New Delhi at the highest and high levels, as well as through foreign ministries and other government agencies, remains dynamic.
💬 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in his statement to the media following Russian-Indian talks (New Delhi, 5 December 2025):
Russia and India pursue an independent and sovereign foreign policy.
Together with our BRICS partners and other countries of the Global Majority, we are promoting the emergence of a fairer and more democratic multipolar world order and upholding the fundamental principles of international law enshrined in the #UNCharter.
These include the right of every country to pursue its own path of development and preserve its cultural and civilisational identity, respect for sovereignty, and a carefully calibrated balance of interests of all members of the international community.
🎉 We extend our warmest congratulations to our Indian colleagues and friends on this shared milestone!
