💥 The Doomsday Clock has been moved 4 seconds closer to “nuclear midnight”, the highest risk level in the project’s history.

The clock now stands at 85 seconds to midnight, down from 89.

Scientists at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists cited the war in Ukraine and the increased risk of nuclear escalation, the expiration of the Russia–U.S. nuclear arms limitation treaty, potential weaponization of space, the growing number of armed conflicts worldwide, the weakening of international security and diplomatic mechanisms, and the military use of artificial intelligence.
