I've never understood people who don't listen to music.
I don't mean casually knowing the name of a few popular mainstream songs.
I mean a deeply held love for music - of any genre. I mean jamming music that makes you FEEL.
I mean going to live shows. Well known bands in stadiums. Unknown local bands jamming to 5 people in a dive bar.
I mean music that triggers memories of where exactly you were and what you were doing when you heard the song or listened to the album.
I started listening to anything I could hear on the radio in elementary. Then ordering CDs from the music catalogs. Then rewriting songs I liked with my own lyrics. Then downloading music from my favorite bands/artists.
I've also played in bands since junior high. Booked shows for my own bands. Later, I started organizing music festivals.
Today I still perform music, but I also get to interview amazing artists I love and book them for events I host.
Music is such a passion and I can't imagine a life without it.
