Masters of the Medium: Paolo Roversi

Paolo Roversi (b. 1947) is one of the most celebrated fashion photographers of our time (included in the BoF 500 list of the most influential fashion professionals).

Known for his soft, monochromatic Polaroid images that balance mystery and intimacy, his portraits highlight the drama of light and shadow, capturing the essence of his sitters with rare sensitivity.

Roversi’s journey began in 1964, when a family trip to Spain sparked his fascination with photography. By 1970, he had opened his first portrait studio. His breakthrough came when Marie Claire published his first major fashion story.
