🇦🇺 The Australian regulator eSafety today announced the start of legal proceedings against Telegram.
Telegram faces a fine of up to 54.6 million Australian dollars — about $38m (3 billion rubles).
There is currently no requirement to block the messenger in Australia.
According to the regulator, in September – October 2025, users complained to Telegram about 12 publications with terrorist materials, however 10 of them were not promptly removed.
This includes executions by ISIS and video recordings of terrorist attacks in Christchurch and Buffalo. Related accounts and communities allegedly continued to operate - Reuters
